US asset manager Capital Group has acquired a 5.44% stake in Plus500, worth around $181 million, making it the broker’s third-largest shareholder. The move comes as Plus500 expands in the US futures market and reports strong quarterly revenue growth.

US asset manager Capital Group has acquired a 5.44% stake in London-listed broker Plus500 (LON: PLUS), becoming its third-largest shareholder after BlackRock and JPMorgan. The investment, worth around $181 million, comes as Plus500 shares trade near all-time highs, surging 57% in the past year and 175% over five years.

Plus500 has been expanding in the US, focusing on futures trading after acquiring Cunningham Commodities and Cunningham Trading Systems for $30 million. It also partnered with market data provider Barchart to strengthen its retail offerings.

Despite a 5% yearly drop, Q1 2025 revenue rose 13% quarter-over-quarter to $205.8 million, signaling resilience amid its global growth push.
