OANDA Japan closes inactive accounts with zero balances
OANDA Japan has permanently deleted accounts that were inactive for over two years and held no funds. The broker cited its trading terms, which allow periodic cleanup of dormant accounts to maintain compliance and operational efficiency.
Affected users were notified via email on May 20, confirming the irreversible closure. Traders who want to return must re-register and resubmit identity verification documents.
This move follows industry norms, where brokers regularly purge unused accounts. Some traders may be caught off guard, as the policy was already in place but not always enforced.
OANDA’s expansion after FTMO acquisition
Earlier this year, OANDA was acquired by FTMO Group. Before the deal, it expanded into proprietary trading with OANDA Labs Trader and introduced Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) in Europe.
