XTB and VanEck collaborate to boost ETF investing in Spain

Publicly traded broker XTB has announced a new partnership with VanEck, a leading global ETF manager, to promote passive investing through exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in Spain. This collaboration aims to make it easier for retail traders to integrate VanEck’s latest ETF products into their portfolios via XTB’s investment plans.

Commitment to the growing Spanish ETF market

The partnership underscores both XTB and VanEck’s dedication to the expanding ETF market in Spain. XTB reports that 70% of their clients worldwide begin their investment journeys with ETFs and stocks. The broker is positioning itself to become Spain’s premier multi-product investment app.

ETF-Based Investment Plans, a recent offering from XTB, were first introduced in late 2023 in Portugal and Slovakia before entering the Spanish market. These plans cater to passive investors and provide access to over 350 ETFs across various asset classes, including stocks, bonds, commodities, and clean energy funds.

Promoting savings culture in Spain

XTB and VanEck’s collaboration also seeks to enhance the savings culture in Spain, where the savings rate is currently below 6%, compared to over 12% in countries like France and Belgium. XTB’s report, “The Future of Savings in Spain,” highlights that Spain ranks second in the EU, behind Germany, for having the most unrewarded saved money. The partnership aims to educate Spaniards on the importance and benefits of regular saving tailored to individual capabilities.

Eduardo Escario, VanEck’s Regional Director of Business Development, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “ETFs are vehicles that help invest in a diversified and low-cost manner, making them a product that fits the needs of retail clients.”

Expanding investment options

This partnership with VanEck follows XTB’s recent collaboration with BlackRock in February, also aimed at promoting ETF investments in Spain. Additionally, XTB has been expanding its offerings to include more passive investment options, introducing a social trading feature in March and entering the UK’s £400 billion ISA market.

Through these strategic partnerships and innovations, XTB is enhancing its platform to provide more diverse and accessible investment opportunities for retail traders in Spain and beyond.
