OANDA Japan to terminate two MetaTrader 4 servers, encouraging move to MT5

OANDA Japan has announced it will terminate two of its MetaTrader 4 (MT4) servers by December 13, 2024, as part of a shift in its services. The Tokyo Server MT4 Discretionary Plan and FX Tokyo Server MT4 “Forex-oj5k” will be discontinued, with no new accounts being created after September 26 and trading stopping by October 18.

Traders are advised to close positions before the servers are shut down to avoid forced settlement. Users of the “Forex-oj5k” server are asked to migrate to the “oj1m” server.

While OANDA hasn’t provided specific reasons for this change, it has pointed out the advantages of MetaTrader 5 (MT5), a platform increasingly promoted by MetaQuotes, as a likely alternative.
