OANDA Japan is raising its USD/JPY margin rate from 2% to 2.2% and has stopped new downloads of the desktop version of its fxTrade trading platform.

OANDA Securities, the Japanese arm of OANDA Corporation, stopped new downloads of the desktop version of its fxTrade trading terminal on Friday. The subsidiary also changed the margin rate of the USD/JPY currency pair for corporate accounts.

Now fxTrade can be used in web versions for the browser, mobile applications, and tablets. However, clients can still access fxTrade from the desktop version of TradingView.

OANDA also changed the margin rate for the USD/JPY currency pair to 2.2%. The rate will be introduced from January 30, 2023, and the changes only affect corporate accounts on its servers in Tokyo and New York.

The increase in the USD/JPY rate followed the change in the margin rates for the NZD/USD and AUD/USD currency pairs to 3% respectively, which the pairs had a margin rate of 2%.

The Japanese company previously introduced new margin rates for the USD/SEK, GBP/USD, and GBP/JPY currency pairs, which also applied to corporate accounts on the broker’s servers in Tokyo and New York.

Also, last year OANDA launched the ability to trade Cryptocurrency in the US in partnership with Paxos.
